Close to you is a short story featuring our favorite Downside couple Chess and Terrible. They're out at the junkyard getting parts for Terrible's Chevelle when they encounter a strange old lady. And to keep the rest a mystery, that's all I'm going to say about plot.It is quite a short story, but Stacia Kane doesn't skimp on quality. She always writes her characters and her world very well, and I'm impressed that she's able to maintain it with such a short workspace as it were.
I'll read any little tidbit I can get about Chess and Terrible. If you're like me Close to You won't disappoint but will only make you wish a full-length story were coming out sooner!

Love Chess and Terrible! This was a short story but it was awesome! Highly recommend it for all Chess and Terrible fans!!
Great series! Minus one star because it is a short story, and it makes me want a full length novel. Nice to visit with Chess and Terrible, but we don't need any more short stories of them. Stacia, BOOK PLEASE!!!!
This was such a short, great treat to read. Definitely not your typical romantic Christmas story. I loved it and hope for more books to this series.
But fun to watch the interplay between Chess and her boyfriend, Terrible. An easy day turns to dark magic with Chess and Terrible in the middle of it. Even in a dystopian urban fantasy there can be love--- all kinds of love.
A very short book, but is a good tie over if you are having Chess and Terrible withdrawal. The story won't mean much to you if you don't keep up with the series though. But, for fans like me, I'll take any new story from the Downside crew I can get.
I enjoy this author's writing and her characters but for crying out loud $1.99 for this novella? I was so looking forward to reading this book, even pre-ordered it but was so disappointed with the length and how abruptly the story ended. If you really love Stacia Kane then I suppose you can go ahead and buy this very short story. It was a bit of a disappointment to me though; I wish I didn't pay to read this less than satisfying super mini story.
aaah *sign* really missed the shelf with this one! I saw one review on saying "A tad short on details and length" Yeh... Right that was mild!
I love these two characters. But I was hoping for a short story story because this is more like a free excerpt/short story! I don't really understand why this is for sale ( I feel bad that I have payed 1.99 for this short st...eeh thingy.
